Durant les 5 dernieres annees d'existence du GARAGE29, le photographe LEIF FIRNHABER a capture beaucoup d'artistes de la scene de la danse a Bruxelles. En collaboration avec OFFESTIVAL, il invite le public xu placer une de ses photos quelque part... dans le monde. Les artistes jouent avec leurs idoles. Les artistes jouent avec le public. Les artistes jouent avec d'autres artistes. Mais les artistes sont-ils prets a etre joues par le public? GLUE'EM (IN THEIR PLACE) est un jeu qui propose au spectateur d'utiliser et transformer l'image de l'artiste. Alors, prets a jouer ? Vous decidez ou placer l'image que vous avez choisie, la taille et le format. Nous l'imprimons et vous la recevez gratuitement par la poste (petits autocollants, affiches A3 ou A4 et cartes postales). Vous voulez placer la photo d'un artiste dans le cendrier d'un bar ou il a l'habitude d'aller, au-dessus des toilettes d'un Theatre, dans le metro a Londres ou sur une montagne au Costa Rica? Votre action peut etre creative ou artistique, ou juste un clin d'oeil a l'artiste et son travail. Quoi que ce soit est valable tant que les propositions sont faites dans respect et le franc jeu.
For the last 5 years of GARAGE29's existence, LEIF FIRNHABER has captured with his photography many different artists that were passing by the Brussels dance scene. In collaboration with OFFestival, he invites audience to place one of his photos somewhere.around the globe. Artists play with their ideas. Artists play with the audience. Artists play with other artists. But are the artists willing to be played by the audience? GLUE.EM (IN THEIR PLACE) is a game that invites the audience to transform the image of their chosen artist. Ready to play? You decide whose image you would like to place where, in which size and format (small stickers, A3 or A4 posters and postcards with different photos). We print and deliver it to you by post for free You want to place that artist.s image into an ashtray of a bar he used to be in, on top of a peculiar WC in a theater, in the London tube, or a mountain of Costa Rica? . It can be creative or artistic, or just an eye-tweak to the artist and his work. Anything is valid as long as the propositions are done with respect and fair play.
"As artists we tend to be very selective with the images that should represent us. The more control we have over what people see from us, the better we feel. This proposition is meant to confront us with the judgement on our own image: Not only by showing unusual aspects of ourselves (images we wouldn.t like to represent us, e.g. above Sabina Scarlat), but also by letting go of the control (placing them into the hands of our audience, friends, colleagues, critics. etc). It will be an interesting experiment to see what our images create after a year of passing through other people's minds and hands"
