Prelude 2014

OFFESTIVAL's PRELUDES is collaborating with ULTIMA VEZ Studio how’s willing to support the initiative of OFFestival. This year again, the studio will be taken over by DAVID ZAMBRANO’s « Passing through » workshop and 40 dancers running during 2 intensive weeks! Some of the participants and other invited dancers will present a public "passing through" session in HALLES DE SCHAERBEEK on Tuesday 27th of! Finally, OFF will also welcome a couple of artists for a workshop-performance, LISI ESTARAS & NICOLAS VLADYSLAV, a workshop that will end up with a presentation of short scenes on Friday 23th at GARAGE29.

Les PRELUDES du OFFESTIVAL 2014 collabore avec ULTIMA VEZ Studio qui soutient l'initiative du OFFestival. Cette année encore, le studio sera pris d’assaut par DAVID ZAMBRANO et le «Passing through », un atelier de 40 danseurs prêts à courir durant 2 semaines intenses! Certains des participants ainsi que d’autres danseurs invités, présenteront une session publique de "Passing through" aux Halles de Schaerbeek le mardi 27 mai ! Enfin, OFF accueillera également un couple d'artistes chorégraphes pour un atelier-performance, LISI ESTARAS & NICOLAS VLADYSLAV, un atelier qui finira propulsé sur la scène du OFF le vendredi 23 mai au GARAGE29.

« Passing Through »

In the "Passing through" a large group of 40 dancers work to see the room full of pathways - infinite pathways passing through. When the group becomes one mind, it can never get lost, every one is leading or following, depending on the situation and the whole group is constantly travelling!
With some of the participants as well as other invited dancers, a public session will take place in LES HALLES DE SCHAERBEEK together with live musicians, Tuesday 27th at 8pm!

Dans la technique du "passingh through" un grand groupe de 40 danseurs travaille pour voir la salle se remplir de chemins. Lorsque le groupe devient un seul esprit, il ne peut jamais se perdre, tout le monde est leader ou suiveur, en fonction de la situation et l'ensemble du groupe est constamment en voyage.
Avec certains des participants ainsi que d’autres danseurs invités, une session publique s’invitera aux HALLES DE SCHAERBEEK en compagnie de musiciens live, le mardi 27 mai à 20h !

DAVID ZAMBRANO is a dancer, choreographer and pedagogue. He has been making dance for over 20 years, has visited 40 countries, worked with more than 25.000 students, and has performed at hundreds of venues across the world. His pieces range from set choreography, structured improvisation, and pure improvisation. He invented the "Flying Low" and "Passing Through" technique.

« Everything happens to me »

Sometimes we have the funny feeling that something starts to go wrong, followed by another and yet another ... "Everything happens to me" is a research about these situations in an extreme physical way. A collection of misunderstandings, desires, trials and experiences.

The workshop will begin with a warming up in the morning and continue the afternoon looking for movements, behaviors and situations on the theme of this research. Participants will be asked to create a series of short scenes which will be presented in the OFFestival on Friday 23th of May. This work is a first step of a forthcoming creation of Lisi Estaras and Nicolas Vladyslav scheduled for 2015. Participants are required from 5-9 May for the workshop, 22 May for rehearsals and 23 May for the performance in OFFestival!

Parfois, nous avons le drôle de sentiment qu'une chose commence à aller mal, suivie par une autre et encore une autre... "Everything happens to me" est une recherche à propos de ces situations d'une manière physique extrême. Une collection de malentendus, désirs, essais et expériences. Ce qui nous arrive peut être banale ou extraordinaire dans l'absurdité de la réalité. Sommes-nous les responsables de ce qui nous arrive?

L'atelier débute avec un échauffement au matin donné par Nicolas Vladyslav. Ses cours sont axés sur la fluidité, le travail du sol et la virtuosité se combinant d'une manière unique. L'atelier se poursuit l'après-midi par la recherche de mouvements, comportements et situations sur le thème de cette recherche. Les participants seront amenés à créer une série de scènes courtes qui seront présentées dans le cadre du OFFestival le vendredi 23 mai. Ces travaux sont une première étape vers une prochaine création de Lisi Estaras et Nicolas Vladyslav prévue pour 2015. Les participants sont tenus d'être présents du 5 au 9 mai pour l'atelier, le 22 mai pour les répétitions et le 23 mai pour la performance dans OFFestival!

Lisi Estaras (AR-BE) works with les ballet C de la B as a dancer and choreographer since 1997. She perform with Alain Platel in "Iets op Bach", "Wolf", "VPRS", Pitie!, "Choeurs", and the most recetly "Tauberbach". As a choreographer she made "Patchagonia", "primero - erscht", "dans dans", "Bolero", "The Gaza Monologues", "A distancia". Lisi works as well in collaboration with other artists like Constanza Macras in "No Wonder" and "Cocina Erotica", etc She gives workshops of les ballet C de la B repertoire and composition around Europe and Argentina.

Nicolas Vladyslav (FR-BE) worked with Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui as dancer and assistant. He danced in "Foi", "Tempus Fuguit", "Corpus Bach". He assisted Larbi in Cullberg Ballet, Les Ballet de Monte Carlo, Grand Theater de Geneve, etc He danced and assisted Lisi Estaras in "Patchagonia", "primero-erscht", "dans-dans", "Bolero", "No wonder". He gives currently lessons around Bruxelles, Gent and Antwerpen.
