TIJEN LAWTON/WORKSHOP-CREATION

9 December, 2015 garage29 WORKSHOP

15-26.02.16/GARAGE29

The physical intelligence is endless…

Creating a basic understanding of the body, a basic structure from which to continually deviate. Activating the essential relationship between the centre and the joints and maintaining a grounded and centred state. Activating muscle memory and focusing on the skeletal structure which will help improve perception and alertness, to move more efficiently, deviating fluidity and strength. Discovering the intelligence of the body and breaking through barriers, challenging the body by focusing on the development and practice of combinations and sequences, some very physical others more detailed and subtle. Moving (through space) on various levels of height from floor work to jumps, generating dynamic, abandon and control.

Patience and persistence is precious…

Moving on in the workshop I would like to propose a continued challenging of the body and person. Some choreographic material will be proposed as well as improvisation to develop new qualities to enrich the dancers vocabulary and also through independent work to develop personal movement and presence. The generating power will be physical and emotional states. The goal is to discover your physical intelligence and understand your body further than your common ways and search deeper in order to create what is unexpected.

Searching for the precision, intention and intensity of movement through a form of body consciousness, breaking limits in order to be innovative, impulsive and instinctive, deviating fluidity and strength. How to be affective and unpredictable with movement, generating dynamic, abandon and control…the emotional human instincts are endless…the possibilities are endless…
