M. NAVARIDAS & A. DEUTINGER/Your Majesties

1 May, 2012 garage29 OFFESTIVAL

26.05.12 – 20:30  / OFFESTIVAL

The audience is seated. A man comes on stage. Now he speaks. Now he moves. A woman gives the man signs. The man keeps speaking. Speaking about war and peace and his efforts to replace one with another. And he doesn´t stop moving. And the world keeps on turning.

In Your Majesties, translator and choreographer Marta Navaridas presents President Obamas Nobel Lecture, held on Oct. 9th, 2009 in Oslo. The performer Alexander Deutinger recites the legendary speech of the President of the United States of America and, in doing so, revives a piece of World History.

Marta Navaridas & Alex Deutinger have been working as artistic couple since 2007. They were Artists-in-Residence at ImPulsTanz Vienna, at CCL Linz, at Espacio de Creación Azala, Vitoria, at Espacio Común, Bogotá and at D.ID Dance-Identity. Their works have been invited to festivals in Spain, Belgium, Netherlands, England, Mozambique, Slovenia, Austria, Switzerland and Germany. Their debut Look at them Now was awarded the Accesit-Prize at ACTFestival Bilbao and the first prize at the Tall Order Competition of CCL Austria. Their work Your Majesties was awarded the BestOFFStyria Theatre Prize 2010. Both have received the DanceWEB Europe Scholarship and are part of THE LOOSE COLLECTIVE, a group of independent dance makers, performers and musicians. Current works of The Loose Collective include the musical performance “Here Comes The Crook” (2011) and the concert performance based on the Old Testament, a coproduction between Tanzquartier Vienna and other institutions within the European Dance Platform Modul Dance, to be premiered in October 2012.
