WHACK ? (titre provisoire) est un travail de collaboration entre Carla Parcianello et Claudia Quaglia. La pièce présente leur voyage de redécouverte du Whacking de style club dans tous ses éléments techniques (y compris la musique, la technique des bras, le punking, la pose et la musicalité) ainsi que ses inspirations primordiales des arts martiaux, du jazz et des films muets hollywoodiens.
Dans ce contexte, elles veulent détruire le lourd stéréotype de la figure féminine perpétué par la commercialisation du Whacking et son intégration dans un environnement hip-hop-masculin-compétitif. En outre, l’objectif est de replacer ce style de danse dans le temps présent, en lui offrant une nouvelle perspective et une évolution, tout en l’empêchant de tomber dans la standardisation.

EN/  From July 8 to 14, Garage 29 welcomes Carla Parcianello in residence!

WHACK? (provisional title) is a collaborative work between Carla Parcianello and Claudia Quaglia. The piece presents their journey of re-discovery of the club-style Whacking in all its technical elements (including music, arms technique, punking, posing, and musicality) as well as its primordial inspirations from martial arts, jazz, and Hollywood silent movies.
In this context, they want to destroy the strong stereotype of the female figure perpetuated by the commercialisation of Whacking and its integration into a hip-hop-masculine-competitive environment. Moreover, the aim is to place this dance style in the present time, offering a new perspective and evolution while preventing it from falling into standardization.
