Sophie Guisset – VTC

15 March, 2019 garage29 OFFESTIVAL

27>30.05.19 /  rendez-vous

FR/AN

VTC ( Vautour Tennis Club) is a research on the notions of control and regulation of behaviours and spaces, initiated by Sophie Guisset, choreographer in collaboration with Fani Bihr, architect. In this work, Sophie questions the subversive potentialities of gestures and behaviours in Western society, using the framework of tennis practice. VTC is a metaphor for our contemporary society with increasingly strict and rigid rules and is looking for ways to set in motion a system made up of conventions and norms through deviant actions carried out within this system itself.
Building on her tenniswoman past, Sophie Guisset transforms the board into a tennis court, and tennis into a playground with multiple layouts. She invites the visitor to come and play a new kind of tennis with her. A tennis game whose rules she changes. Every day another device is invented, a field, smaller or larger, round or hexagonal, with wet, wet, plasticized ground, with ping-pong rackets, a book or a shoe… In short, VTC is a place where you play tennis and intimacy, a space where you can invent yourself with the other, a space of resistance to the outside world.
Visitors are invited to register for a time slot for a subversive tennis match with Sophie Guisset between May 27 and 30. The sessions take place at 2pm, 3.30pm, 5pm and 6.30pm. No spectators allowed!
