This workshop is taking place in the frame of the creation of Wild Explosion of Radical Softness by Maria Ferreira Silva

Over the years my choreographic and performative endeavors have revolved around the notion of Plasticity. Initially sparked by neuroplasticity and the intricate connections between neurons it gained its movement practices through ideas of formation, transformation, interdependence and agency in the dance studio. Through time this research expanded to encompass other areas of research on plasticity, such as philosophy, biomechanics or epigenetics while insisting on a dialogue with feminist and queer narratives.

During this immersive 5 days workshop, we’ll dive into the heart of plasticity through the choreographic and performative lens. The invitation is to indulge in a diversity of movement practices anchored on listening practices, relation with music, spatial and body awareness, and endurance which may include reading and writing exercises. Guided by a sense of unity, we’ll embark on this journey —both as individuals and as a collective – to contemplate notions of agency and interdependence, fostering connections that go beyond our bodies and the studio walls.

In addition, we’ll weave the tactile composition world of textiles into the creative tapestry. Textiles have become an integral part of my current work and this will be my first engaging a bigger group in these practices. The idea is to explore the intersection of plasticity and queerness of space – hanging on an environment that embraces fluidity, malleability, multiplicity of experiences and identities.
